Knights of Lincoln

Lincoln Castle

Meet outside Engine Shed on Brayford Campus at 0920 to walk up to the castle together at 0940.  Please email Victoria Ellis-Vowles (vellisvowles@lincoln.ac.uk) if you plan to meet us outside the entrace of the Castle. 
 
Step back in time to when Lincoln Castle, was a prized fortress, and endured dramatic sieges in the 12th and 13th centuries! The second of which was most famously defended by the greatest knight there ever was - William Marshall!

Experience the sights and sounds of medieval combat as skilled knights and men-at-arms demonstrate the training and discipline required for battle. Watch as they put their abilities to the test in thrilling tournament displays, both on foot and on horseback, competing for honour, glory, and the defence of the Castle.

Alongside the action, discover the fascinating story behind the Magna Carta—and the crucial role William Marshal played in preserving its legacy.
