The Book Arts Space is in the Peter de Wint building and students can make a range of handmade books (by appointment only). Specialist materials are provided and payment can be made here on the online store. Please contact Jantze Holmes (technician) before purchasing. The Maker lab PDW1022 has set up a Pay As You Go Scheme, which enables designer-makers to use the workshops to develop and enhance their work.

Please note all Pay As You Go time must be used within 36 months from date of purchase and any unused time will not be refunded.

The Maker Lab has a variety of kilns that can be hired by UoL staff and students.

The kilns are primarily to support the College of Arts, who have priority.

Kilns will be managed, loaded, unloaded, and set by The Maker Lab Technician. Timings and firing cycles will be specified by the hiree.

If products fail during kiln firing it is the responsibility of the individual user and not the Maker Lab Technician, College of Arts staff, or the University of Lincoln.

The Maker Lab holds a variety of metals, enamels, clay and glazes that can be purchased directly from the Maker Lab.

Before purchasing you will need to speak with Michael, the resident technician, who will advise on current stock levels, give you a price to pay and a password to allow you to purchase.  The material has been bought in bulk with the postage being split over the purchasable quantities so you can try but not have to pay the full P&P.
